I began my art studies with Morton Sacks, the Boston portraitist.  Later I studied with Oskar Kokoschka at his Schule des Sehens in Austsria.  Though I\'ve taken brief classes with other artists, it was these two people who really marked my approach to painting - a painterly approach, using representation but loosely and experimentally.  In gneral, I see all the different painting styles as a kind of vocabulary, a storehouse of tools I can use or ignore, depending on what I want to do at any given moment and in any given painting.
